_[2007/Apr27]_I sent them my unit and several weeks later it was returned. The overdrive now works (very well) and Quantum Mechanics proved to be great to work with. I would recommend them to anyone. -- Jerry Jerred <jjerred@wisc.edu>

[1999/Mar/05] John's a pretty good guy. A straight-shooter. I've recommended his services to many folks. He knows his stuff. -- Bob Lang <LANG@ISIS.MIT.EDU>

[1999/Mar/04] When building my A-Type OD, a few bits were sourced from Quantum. As I understand it, Quantum rebuilds lots of gearboxes. John sources lots of parts from the UK, and came across a big batch of non-OD mainshafts. He bought them, and has a machine shop here in the States chop out the excess length, then fabricate and weld on a section with the necessary splines to turn them into OD mainshafts. -- Henry Frye <thefryes@iconn.net>

I found a source of British (Spitfire?) intake manifold, carb and exhaust manifold setups (eight port heads ala 1300cc and 1500cc). They are used from British salvage yards and are becoming hard to get. They include:

Two (2) - 1.5" su carbs (as used in Britain, we got 1.25") Dual carb manifold for above --- and get this --- Cast Iron Exhaust manifold with 2 (that's two) outlets. From there he has the 2 into 1 pipe that interfaces to the exhaust system under the car.

He also has Mikuni carb setups, like Webers but cheaper. He also specializes in transmission rebuilding, TR, AH, etc.... including overdrives. He stocks various parts, gears, suspension, fibreglass tunnels, and has custom built roller rockers for Spitfire, GT6, etc...

He's working on getting a rebuild supplier for the Delco distributor vacuum advance units. - CWNicholls@aol.com

John knows his stuff. He told me about using the Dolomite Sprint gears as the heart of a close ratio TR4 gearbox just recently. He seems to sell several sets of them a year. According to John, the first gear is higher than stock, the second is a smidge higher than stock. Can't speak for the rest of the gears available in the set. Some of the Triumph books probably can fill you in on the actual ratios. - Bob Lang <LANG@ISIS.MIT.EDU>
