[2009/Feb/9][Vendor supplied] I build a conversion of a Toyota Celica/Supra (1983 to 1985) W58 5 speed transmission into your Triumph (TR-2,3,4 or 6). I developed this conversion over the last 2 years for use in two of my TR-3s. Friends in our local Triumph Club (DCTRA) asked if I would help them make the conversion and now have done 15 - photos on request. The 5 speed conversion will allow you to cruise at freeway speeds with less worry about the strain on your motor. The Toyota transmission has proven to be reliable and requires very little maintence. The conversion utilizes STOCK TRIUMPH hydraulic clutch parts (preasure plate, clutch slave and linkage, throwout bearing, cross shaft and fork). You will need to use your Triumph transmission parts as well. The adaptor kit requires assembly, sawing, machining, heli-arc and mig welding, grinding, drilling and tapping. I suggest that you seek out professionals to do the conversion, machining and welding. The process is fairly straight forward, using Triumph hydraulic clutch slave, preasure plate, throwout bearing, throwout bearing fork, cross shaft, transmission output flange, speedo cable and shifter. Basic Conversion Kit: $500.00 Adaptor Plate, clutch disc, pilot bushing, transmission to bellhousing bolts (9), transmission mount, driveshaft locking collar, throwout bearing sleeve, allen bolt, and transmission output flange plug SERVICES AVAILABLE: Machining and welding bellhousing (heli-arc adaptor plate to bellhousing), machining rear Triumph output flange to accept Toyota driveshaft end $300.00 PLUS $250 refundable CORE MGB unmodified speedometer angle drive (yours): can be modified to adapt to Toyota transmission for $60.00
