[1999/May/12] Needed a J type overdrive and a mainshaft for my 59 TR3A which has an early TR6 Transmission/overdrive setup..... through your monster list I managed to procure a completely rebuilt overdrive unit and transmission mainshaft at Autogear Transmission over in the UK. Cost of the J type Overdrive unit was 395 BP and 100 BP for the remanufactured mainshaft. (plus postage) The only hitch was with the mainshaft. They sent me the one which I had specified but it turns out that these trannies can be rebuilt with any of 3 different types and at some point the one I have was rebuilt with a different one than originally installed. When I discovered the problem and described the part more fully to them, they immediately dispatched the correct one. [1999/May/10] These guys were real helpful in getting me a higher geared cwp set to use in my MGB tube axle. John Webb was good to talk to, and was quite knowledgeable on the subject of what would fit and what wouldn't. He sold me a NOS 3.3:1 MGC set at a relatively reasonable price, and was able to accurately tell me what mods had to be made to the carrier to use it in a B axle. Communicate well by FAX. 1997/Apr/22] These guys claim to be the rebuild center for most of Europe and as such seem to have the lowest prices on transmission parts. Believe VB and Moss Europe use these guys. After reviewing the pricing, I suggest sending a standard TR6 transmission over and having it rebuilt and equipped with a J-type OD and returned. This seemed a clever way to avoid all the major complications involved in converting one and would result in a "factory" type unit with completely rebuilt OD unit. Anyone that tries this, please update this list. At current exchange rates of 1.6, swapping a standard for rebuilt with OD-J would cost UK#547 or $875.20 plus shipping.
