[1998/May/5] Because of a leaking grease seal, a couple of weeks ago I took my axle to Bob Wagner @ Atlanta Imported Auto Parts. These guys are a great source of help for both funky parts or troubling mechanical work. De-mating the axle hub from its nesting place qualifies for the later. It defied their 25 ton press, but not Bob's skill with a 16 lb. sledge. -- Richard Taylor <n196x@mindspring.com>

[1998/May/3] I have bought quite a few parts, new and used, from AIAP. I have had nothing but good experiences with them. Tom and Lamar spend whatever amount of time it takes to guide me through a procedure and they have never steered me wrong. They have a huge inventory of used parts and are also a Moss reseller. Their new part prices follow Moss, so there are rarely 'deals', but the few used parts I've bought from them were in great shape and reasonably priced. They also carry many other manufacturers' stocks. Finally, there are two shops in the back, one that is AIAP and another that is independent (Neil's Restorations). I've used both and the work was done right and cost less and was done faster than the estimates. In the long-run there are two big advantages to dealing with them. First is their experience that translates into on-the-spot advice. They've either done it or one of the 'boys in the back' has. Second is that they treat their customers as NUMBER ONE and their suppliers as necessary evils. That is, if a new part is not up to the standards of the customer, Lamar will ream the supplier. I've witnessed two such phone calls to suppliers, customers absent, that would have wilted a Marine drill instructor. This also means that they deal only with the better suppliers. -- Jeffrey H.
