[2003/12/15] A few months back my son ordered a rebuilt brake master cylinder for his TR8 from Apple Hydraulics. What he got was a POS. He returned it, only to receive a second POS. Finally he just had Sierra resleeve the original MC, which fortunately he hadn't yet sent to Apple and bought a rebuild kit from another source. Works fine now. -- Roland Dudley <csx2282@juno.com>

[vendor supplied] New, rebuilt lever shocks for Healey, MG, Triumph, Jaguar, Morgan. We can rebuild most any lever shock. Links & bushings available. Please add $30.00 core charge per shock if old shock not sent with order. $3.00 per shock for shipping. Free catalog available. Spridget lower A-arms- They braze on new bushings "Just like the original". They were somewhere from $50-100, or they will rebuild yours. Apple Hydraulics will also rebuild SUs and Strombergs (around $375 the pair) including flow bench testing (presumably for leaks). They'll just re-bush the throttle shafts for something less than that. - Chris Kent Kantarjiev <cak@parc.xerox.com>

Spoke with them about rebuilding Z-S carbs. They manufacture a lot of the parts no longer available like jets and needles, so they do a complete job on them. Since I'm in CA, they'll install emission needles to pass smog, but send an extra set of earlier needles for better performance. The price for a pair of carbs is $375 in July (93). They also do master/slave/wheel cylinder sleeving at $60/sleeve.They also rebuild lever shocks, kingpins, control arms and heads and sleeve master/slave/wheel cylinders. They will also just re-bush and replace throttle shafts at $45/carb. They have a small catalog -- GENDIMEN@T12SYS.intel.com

I have been happy with their service. On my Austin-Healey, they re-bushed and align-bored the spindles. Very nice, and very quick. I also sent them the two front lever shocks from the A-H for rebuilding. When I got them back, there was a note included that one of the shocks I sent was incorrect for the 100 (I hadn't even looked carefully, much less noticed). They had substituted another core from their stock and sent me two correct rebuilts. No extra charge, as I remember. Nice service, in my book. - Jim Beckman jeb@mtgbcs.att.com
