Team Fat sweeps GT6

and wins

Spitfire at VTR '93.

In 1969 at Daytona, the Group 44 GT6+ took first place in EP at the American Road Race of Champions. Second and third were also won by a GT6+.

In 1993 at the Vintage Triumph Register National Convention in Everett, WA, the Dimebank Garage / GSP Racing / Team Fat GT6+ swept the GT6 class: Bob Bownes took first, John Lye took second, and Chris Kantarjiev took third. Bob's drive took the Fastest Time of Day trophy, as well.

Valerie Lopez drove the same car to a first in the Ladies' GT6 class.

Mark Bradakis took the Fat Chance Garage / Team Fat Spitfire 1500 to first place in the Modified Spitfire class, and Jim Pivirotto was a few tenths behind in second place.

Team Fat didn't enter any other cars this year, but we're pretty happy taking home seven trophies for six drivers and two cars.

The GT6+ also took home an award from the People's Choice show, all after driving 1000 miles to the event from Palo Alto.

Chris Kantarjiev and Pat Caruthers built the GT6+. TriumphTune, The Roadster Factory, and the Fat Chance Garage supplied parts and advice. John Kipping of John Kipping Spares in Coventry provided long distance help, expert knowledge and quick shipment of parts when the gearbox had to be rebuilt a week before we were scheduled to depart for Everett. John Lye and Valerie Lopez were pressed into service helping assemble the car at the last minute before leaving, and Scott Fisher made the paint shine.

Not a bad beginning for a car that's about to hit the autocross circuit in the San Francisco Region.
